I'm mostly a hold'em player, but am considering adding five card stud to my repetoire. Any recommendations on best references and places to find information?

Thanks

What format will you be playing? Norman Zadeh has a section in his book that is worth looking at.

I've been looking for this info myself. I recently purchased the Zedah book off of Ebay. The 5card stud section is short, but seems okay.

"Scarne's Guide to Modern Poker" has a brief section on 5card stud. Also, "Education of a Poker Player" has the most "extensive" discussion of the game I've found so far. It's the basic, "fold when beat on board" strategy. Ashley Adams thinks this is too conservative (maybe I'll wrangle him into the conversation by possibly misquoting him :) ).

The Paradise 5stud game looks intriguing and soft, but I'm too big a chicken to jump in with out a little study first.

I had forgotten to mention Yardley's book, which I am a big fan of. Also, I think Alfred Morehead's book might have a section on 5 Stud. I still see it in used book stores. If you are going to play limit, I think Zadeh's section might be the best way to go. It's short, but there is a lot in it to work through.

5 Card Stud is pretty much dead: it is played very little now compared to the frequency with which is was before.
It may not be worth your while (in monetary terms) to learn this game as it is rare that you'll find a game to sit in.
My advice would be to learn Seven Card Stud instead.
