online sites without downloads, reviews?, noiseboy, 7. Feb 2003 10:51

Hello,

Anyone here ever tried gutspoker.com? I'm on a MAC so I can mostly do sites without downloads. In addition to hold'em, they have guts (hence the name), I've had luck taking money from friends at home games with guts just playing pairs and Aces with kickers, is there any more strategy to it than that? Are there any articles about this type of exponential pot game? I know the variance is going to be really high, so a large bankroll must be needed even at 1-2.

Also, how tough are the players at pokerroom.com on the medium limit tables?

Thanks for any input, and thanks to those who responded to my last post about tournament book recommendations, just got the TJ and McEvoy book and it rocks!

Hi

what "medium" limits do you mean? i haven't played much above $3-6 there, but my best profits are at the 1-2 and 2-4 there (10 BB/hour over the last 5 days). these tables are full of loose-passive and medum(never as tight as me)-passive players. The rare aggressive player is usually very loose. I keep notes and have only run across 2 tight aggressive players in the last week.
Also, at the low-limit tables, the earlier in the day you play, the tighter the players. This morning i was at a full 1-2 table with an avg. of 3-4 people seeing the flop. At night the avg is more like 7.

as for 5-10 and beyond, i rarely play those tables. Some players seem much better than the average 5-10 live players, some are the same low-limit players who move when they have a winning session. The 10-20 game i tried had good players in it ( they played solid starting hands and knew position)

hope that helps.

P.S. I have never had a problem with money there.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably stick to my local B&M casino for the higher limits (they charge hourly), and play 3-6 online. I kinda suspected that players get a lot better at the higher limits online.

I'll have to concur with Mark about pokerroom. I haven't played any higher than 3-6 there but the games are very good with the afore mentioned loose passive players. I've played there approx. 2 months and have had no problems with the cashouts either (they are the fastest of the bunch).
