| Dear Mike, IN RESPONSE TO MY PREVIOUS (ON-LINE POKER) FORUM.. -I apologize for seeming to question your integrity and that of your colleages such as Roy Cooke. After all, "It is a sin to let a fool keep his money". So, whatever new market has been opened to a new breed of player, I applaud anyoneone who can get a person to release their money and thank you for it. I have much respect for you and others who make a living w/ the game that I love so much. -I am not a losing player, and am ready to make the treansition to full time in Vegas, so, I guess that makes me a conpiracy theorist... I appreciate all of the comments, but as for me, I will continue to play where I can see all seated players in front of me along with the dealer and cut card. Good luck to all of you cyber rounders, I hope I see you at the real tables some time where 30 hands per hour is too slow for you......I guess I'm a purist who likes old time rock& roll, and smiling and tipping the dealer who gives me rolled-up aces over kings..... | ||

| Rod, This could have been handled on the other thread. No reason to go Drama Queen. YOU admitted you were a losing player at online poker. That means that you haven't been able to adapt from B&M to Online cardroom play--nothing more. If you win consistently in Vegas, you should be able to win online; it is no different than adjusting your game in a cardroom, sometimes you play very tight, sometimes not so tight. | ||

| regarding online vs. life play...I don't think it's unusual to see swings, and shockingly enough...swings that mirror the opposite of the other medium. Between January and May of last year, I had pretty good luck in live tournaments. I suspected the same of my online performance, but when requesting a transcript of my play at my favorite site, I was stunned to find that although I had won about 2400 dollars live in live tournaments, I had thrown away 1600 of this back into internet poker with nothing to show for it. (granted, I was still playing fixed games online a lot...not tourneys...my ring game was a leak I hadn't been working on) - Between May and December, however, the long plunge ceased, and I found myself staying stable online for the rest of the year....meanwhile 4-5 hundred dollars invested in live tournaments turned up zilch for placement. The reason things changed in May was a reordering of priorities after losing my job, and actually, a few weeks where I was more likely to play according to my bankroll instead of my job income, which made a big difference. As a result, I played fewer $100 games live and more $20/30/10/5/1 dollar games on Pokerstars.. what does this mean? - Nothing really, except to show that for a year's performance, it's amazing how luck, skill, and even your environment can affect your game. This year, I'm 450 in the hole so far with NOTHING to show for it except a newfound appreciation for mucking JJ when almost in the money ;) - but I bet you sometime this year, that'll be worth the 450...LOL And NO, I do not believe Planet Poker is fixed...I don't believe in the integrity of every new fly by night poker club that's popping up, and the list of failures in recent years is enough to make one careful before making a decision....But I concur. Mike and Roy have built up a reputation as straight shooters in what was once a dirty business...I don't believe they'd risk it just to keep a few winning pros from driving off fish....there's always more fish, esp. in Cyberspace. my fav. example...I see two players push all in...AQ vs KK - an AQ hit the flop, but a K hits the river....people cry "boo....juiced deck!!!" if they were gonna juice the deck for this player...why make it so overdramatic and draw attention to it? - That's paranoia talking....and this from a guy who got KK snapped off by 10/10 tonight, took JJ vs KK or QQ twice with no improvement, and caught the bad side of several 2-1 draws tonight. Bad luck....hell yeah (except for that JJ vs QQ....I was a moron....bonehead play) - am I taking a break...yeah. Was it a downstreak...yes. But soon, I'll have another one of those days where I make two final tables and all this will melt away.....pax. RB ---------------- I'm like a wino with a twenty dollar bill, forever and eternally yours. - Bill Mallonee | ||
