How do high stakes and tournament poker players take their winnings home without being robbed. Or how do they lessen the chance of being robbed.

don't know...but one time a nice old lady at my mom's bingo parlor won $10,000, and the parlor sent an armed security guard home with her, and he stayed there till the next morning when she could go to deposit it in the bank....

Anyone who pulls a stunt like that would probably be lynched though, I can tell you that...it won't happen in or around a casino cause security is tighter then a waterproof duck. - I remember a story of someone ambushing Doyle Brunson one time, but that was at home.

TJ used to write about some wildcats in TX. as well...glad it's a safer game these days....It's bad enough people bitch at me for running down their middle pairs with an open ended str8/flush draw. I'd hate to get shot over it.

I recall Mike C. has some pretty harrowing stories about that very question.

Since you're going to get W2-G anyway, there should be no problem asking for a check for most of it. Of course the casino would prefer you take it right over to the craps table, which may eliminate any problem carrying it with you.

I'm always surprised when I hear that world class poker players are also play the games vs. the house. Personally, I am horrified at the idea of playing games where the odds are against me.

The main culprit seems to be craps. I know a lot of people who know full well the house edges against them that you could not drag away from the craps table with a bulldozer.

It may have something to do with the fact that the player handles the house equipment (dice). What other table game gives the illusion of being in control to that degree. I remember a documentary I saw once (might have been on the TV show 20/20) where they had someone demonstrate dice throwing prowess. Showed he could roll three consecutive twelves, and claimed he's been barred from casinos everywhere. I suppose this might convince someone that they have the potential to overcome the house advantage with enough practice. I'm going to stay in the card room, thank you anyway.

Most players have security deposit boxes within the PokerRoom and/or Casino. If they wish to take cash away with them they can wire it or have an armed escort.
