Is there an hourly rate a person should strive for? What would it be at various low level limits?

Hello Fairfax

Anything over 1 big bet an hour is a very good HR!

Thanks Roy for your response. How high a limit would this hold true? Also what would be the max anyone should theoretically obtain? Thank you

Hi Fairfax

That depends upon the spread in ability between yourself and your competition. One big bet an hour is a great earn in 30-60 and higher games in vegas. If you play smaller your may do alittle better. 1-1/2 big bets is real strong no matter what the limit!

Hi Roy,
I have logged 242 hours of online $2/$4 holdem and have a win rate of $7.31 PH with a 90% confidence percentage that my win rate is within $5. I guess my question to you is how likely is it that $7.31 is my win rate and is $7.31 PH unreal for $2-$4? thanks

In my very limited experience, I think that 2 BB/hr is doable when you are playing at the lowest limit in a very good environment. I find that a 5-10 table at Brantford with 2 ridiculous maniacs (and they abound there), 2 clueless players, and 5 players of varying forms of almost decent, can yield me 2+ BB/hr (in all fairness, I realize that this is hard to estimate).

Nonetheless, I would, at most times be better off making 1 BB/hr at the 10-20 than the usual 1 or 1.5 that the 5-10 provides, so there is really little point to playing there unless you are a beginner.
