| All, I got version 5 of Turbo Texas HE for Christmas and I like it very much so far. I have clearly been playing too loose, and once I tightened up and was more agressive with the quality hands, it has helpped. Now its off to the casino to see if it payed off. I want to know from y'all what your opinions about it are as I'm about to take the leap and buy the tourney edition. Not sure if I'm going to play tournaments, but it would be fun to see how I stack up none the less. I thought I read here that many of you like to use wilson software to run simulations. Can someone please let me know the types of simulations that you run and what you get out of them. Has anyone purchsed sidewinder sid and is this worth the fifteen bucks? I like the "challenge Mike" feature and beat the stuffing out of him the very first time, but since then, it has been more even, with him whipping me bad a couple of times. I appreciate your replys. | ||

| Hi Big Frank, I bought the tournament edition about a month ago, and I'd give it a big thumbs up. I practiced on it since I bought it and I managed to take down a freeroll earlier this week (won $50 in the process). There are some things that I dislike about it (read below), but those are for the most part insignificant, and overall it is definately worth purchasing. My mini-review (the things I dislike): There is no hand analysis feature (like in the turbo hold'em), I don't like this because tournament strategy and ring-game strategy are different, hands that are good for a raise in a ring-game under certain conditions in a tournament should be called (or even folded sometimes). You can't run simulations as you can in turbo holdem, this isn't a huge deal for me, but it would be a nice addition. There is no way to customize the limit structure. The software provides about 45 different choices of limit structure (many different types of fixed, pot, and no limit). I was hoping for a "custom" limit structure where you could fill in the exact limits you'd be playing at your local cardroom or online. Because of the large variety of available limts you can get something close, but there might not be an exact match for what you will be playing. The lack of a custom limit structure feature was my main disappointment, I even sent Bob Wilson an email stating my disappointment and he was very quick to respond. He stated that reason for this is because for multi-table tournaments you can jump to the final table (the computer will simulate all the early rounds up the final table), and in order to arrive at a "fair" chip approximation the program needs the set limit structures. We sent several emails back and forth, (he's a really nice guy), and he eventually convinced me that this also wasn't a HUGE deal...afterall the reason you're buying this is to practice your tournament strategy, so if you can find something close to what you'll be playing the strategy will be the same. I suggested to him that he include hand analysis, simulations, and custom limits in the next edition and he said that they would be looking into it (but since version 4 just came out recently it'll probably quite awhile before the next upgrade). As I said before it is definately worth purchasing, it could be improved upon, but I won a freeroll ($50) with the strategy I learned from it, so I really can't complain too much, since it's almost paid for itself already. hope this helps, jasonHoldEm | ||

| my only beef with the tournament software (old version) was that the players weren't that good...not as much work went into it's logic as Turbo Texas Holdem... as an example, I've played 19 tourneys using the WSOP format, and made the final table twice and in the money 3 other times....THAT'S NOT LIKELY in real life...:) - not yet...LOL - all on the toughest setting, BTW they move too fast too, on the toughest setting, the first 4 rounds of the WSOP tourney structure loses approx. 75% of the field....you'd never see 75% of the WSOP participants out in the first day. (or the first 4 rounds...that's how long it is, right...6 hours the first day) - it's good, and nice practice, and I'm buying the upgrade, but don't think you're ready for the WSOP cause you can beat it ;) RB ---------------- I'm like a wino with a twenty dollar bill, forever and eternally yours. - Bill Mallonee | ||

| I've also noticed it's easier to steal the blinds than in real life...at least online "real life". | ||
