Not sure what the "example: " is for .........but if you are asking this question seriously ........i believe the amount most recommended is somewhere between $200 to $400 (say around $300). That is 10 to 20 times the big bet.

NEVER BUY SHORT in limit cash games. If you play properly, you will play tight and aggressive, and doing so means you will always want to have lots of chips in front of you.

* Initial buy-in: I recommend at least 50 times the big blind. This is $500 in 10-20, $200 in 4-8. This will allow you to take several rough beats before having to rebuy. Rebuying is demoralizing and bad for your image, so keeping the number of rebuys to a minimum is desirable. Dealers, floorpeople and chiprunners will appreciate it, too, as it makes their jobs easier.

* Short-chipped: I consider myself to be shortchipped when I have less than 15 times the big blind. This is a good time to rebuy. If you get all-in, you've made a mistake.

* Size of rebuy: I prefer to make this the size of my original buy-in, but under no circumstances should it be less than 25 times the big blind.

So, how much should you bring? 100 times the big blind should be enough, because if you end up losing 70 times the big blind or more, something is probably wrong and you should stop playing. I've NEVER lost more than 150 times the big blind in any game, so I never carry more than that on me.

[note: unless 10-20 players in your area are horrible, that limit is too high to start at unless you are made of money. I recommend 4-8 or 6-12 as a starting point, as 3-6 games are becoming difficult to find. I do not recommend 5-10, unless it is played with $1 chips.]
