| I have been noticing how hard it is to make money playing poker especially online. The problem as it appears to me is that players over the years seem to be improving their play. When players at your table are consitently making correct decisions not playing trash hands and are approaching the game from a logical competitive perspective then this takes away tons of potential profit. If players are not making enough mistakes then guess what, you Lose money. I think that this is more true of online poker. Players seem to be making better more profitable decisions consistently, there are less games to beat. And you are always in a battle to preserve your bankroll. And your in a battle against pure luck. I just think that even if you are a good player (a really good player) that it is still very hard to make money playing poker. Because as I said... players are far better than they used to be. I see it! Tournaments are more competitive players are learning the game and you need to get lucky to win a hand. Lets Say there are 4 players left in a tournament and right now you are going for 3rd place and beyond. If no one is going to make a mistake and get knocked out, I'm just saying this can be cutting in on a lot of easy profit when this happens. Even if you are playing at a very high level if you are somewhat low on chips and players are staing alive longer and the blind are going up and up... hey you know as well as i do you need luck to win. For example last night I played a 30+3 dollar tournament It was down to the last 4 i was working w/ about 1495 in chips / "Blinds twenty five and fifty... and we don't stop unil one of us hez it all" Blinds 250-500 Ok I was able to make good plays all game long and i was able to steal 3 blinds in a row ug staying alive staying alive staying alive... I am a pretty conservative player when it comes to blind stealing but obviously it was a must to raise 750 each time to win the 750 blinds some of the hands had some merit like K6clubs an ace or something i don't know. the last one was a pure steal. But then the blinds went up to 500-1000 And I tryed to survive to the very last hand but I lost when I called w/ A5 on the button w/ 475 in chips the SB raises a 1000 big blind folds and the small blind beats my A5 w/ his 62 spades catching a 2. Now why is it that I hardly ever ever win when I have an underdog and at the same time lose w/ favorites like AK vs A5... too many times to mention and recently I have lost tons of money w/ AK going all in I miss the board and I lose. especially against pairs. I'm just saying that players are playing better and they are not falling into enough traps. JJ | ||
