| Merry Christmas all, I am posting to ask what is the difference between games played with and without a kill? I am used to playing limit hold’em games with no kill. I am currently trying to work my way up the limits in my local cardroom. The next level up ($5-10) is played with a kill. As I understand it, this means that after a pot reaches a certain amount the next hand is played at double the stakes ($10-20, for example). Am I right about this? Is there also something about the winner of the previous pot having to post an extra blind at the kill level? I am not at all confident that I fully understand the rules here. Also are there any changes in strategy that one should make when playing in a game with a kill, compared to no kill games? Any help very much appreciated. Happy New Year, Snorbolus | ||

| The only kill games I have playing in have been online so I am not sure how much if any kill games in brick an mortar rooms differ. Typically the kill game is initiated once a player wins two hands in a row. (provided the pot is large enough in each hand) The next hand is played at double the limit, and the player who won the two pots posts a blind equal to double the big blind regardless of his position. (if he is in position to normally post a blind, this double blind takes the place of the blind he would have normally posted.) The main difference in strategy is that your drawing hands are going to be worth a little bit less since they typically lead to the larger pots that will kick in the kill and cost you the double blind. You also need to be aware of the pot size if you have won the previous because you will be posting the kill blind if you win again. For example, you may not want to bet on the end even if you are a favorite if it will take the pot over the kill limit, but not give you enough of a profit to overcome the cost of the double blind. Hope that helps, Lee | ||

| At Foxwoods, the kill in the 5-10 game kicks in whenever there is a pot over $100. The winner posts a $10 blind, the other blinds are the same as they were. It is a 10-20 game. it stays this way until there is a pot under $100. | ||
