| I dont think you can beat 90% of the players 90% of the time while losing to the top10% 90% of the time. I think it was Sklansky maybe even caro who said that even bad pokerplayers win one in 5 sessions, and good ones lose 1 in five. Write down your statistics, and stop rationalizing why you arent as good as you want to think you are. The mere fact that you know how good you are will make you a better player. I used to play pool, and I knew I was far from the best player, however I often beat better players because I knew my limits and didnt risk to much by trying plays that were to difficult for my skill. My opponents also knew they were better than me, that tilted them when I beat them, two players even broke their cues in discust (they were expensive cues too) The reason you dont do to well in tournaments might be that you play too tight, this might also explain why you win against bad(low limit?) players and lose against good(players who sense you are tight and dont give you free money when you have good cards) | ||

Of course you need to know how to make moves and it helps to have heart but it only takes one dumb mistake and you are on the sidelines. Often it is better to wait for a legitamate hand to win. And even legitamate hands like AK can lose to a pair (say 99s if you push w/ it). Of course sometimes late in a tournament w/ binds important and you and another player is ving for 3rd if you could steal an important pot your chances of winning will increase. Remember you still need to be lucky to win a tournament. And you don't want any mistakes. ie hands you shouldn't even be playing. Thats all for today. Jonathan Kerr | ||
