| I've only played their 4-8 HE and Omaha/8. These games can be beat, but mainly by being patient. You need to wait for good cards. Games are usually loose-passive, but, player-dependent, can get loose-aggressive. Then, hang on; the ride can get pretty crazy. They also offer 10-20 and 20-40 HE, and pot-limit HE (less frequently). Also spread 1-5 stud and 1-5 stud/8 or better. No experience with any of these latter games. | ||

| The absolutely tightest game I have ever played or even viewed was the $1-5 Stud game at Sandia. And I have played in excruciatingly tight games in my time. I raised the $1 force $5 with pocket Kings. Everyone folded. Next hand, with an Ace up, I raised $2. Everyone folded. 6 hands later, there hadn't been a contested bring in (everyone including me folded to the bring-in bet). I called the bring in with a pair of Jacks in the hole and a 7 up. I was the only caller. Fourth street I got some suited card and bet $5. My opponent folded. I decided to raise the bring in on every hand until I was called. I got 6 or 7 uncontested bring ins. On my eight hand or so I raised with a 10 up and was called by a King. He checked every round until the River and I checked behind him. He ended up with a Pair of Kings and won. I left shortly thereafter shaking my head. I don't know if the games are still like this, but it was almost other-worldly. Ashley Adams on 11. | The HE games are nowhere as tight. It's rare to get no callers with a preflop raise, and many players will call you to the river with any piece of the flop. Non-nut flush draws call to the river, pairs call with a big pair on board and its obvious set bettor, etc. These games can be juicy. I've heard the stud games are a rock paradise; you need to play the low limit HE. | ||

No experience with any of these latter games. Its because those stud games don't have an antie... you need an ante to have action. Its rediculous. It is no good for the game of stud to play w/ out an ante... the bigger the ante the bigger the action. In the game I play in Eagle Pass it is 1-6 w/ a dollar ante. You can win very big in that game if some things go your way. I won 800 one time and like 700 this other time. You need to have an ante in stud its rediculous Jerome95

| I agree that an ante helps get action. I'm sure I wouldn't want to play no ante Stud for very long. Now a $1 ante $1-6 game sounds very juicy indeed. I've never seen a low spread limit game like this played with a $1 ante. I'm curious about how people typically play 3rd and 4th Street. Do the solid players tend to raise the maximum or is there a lot of $3 raising in those games? Also, what's the rake structure. Might be worth a trip down there just to try out the game if the rake isn't too high. Please fill us in. Thanks. Ashley Adams on 18. Dec 2002 19:25 Jerome wrote: > > on 11. With a huge ante like that, your edge would be so small I dont think you could overcome the rake. CapnD | ||

You need to > > have an ante in stud its rediculous > > > > Jerome95 Hey Ashly I'm glad you asked that "what is the action like in those games? 4 st 5 st." Hey I'm sorry I have taken so long to respond. Havent been on this site... no one cares what I say anyway. :-D These 7 stud games are usually filled with plenty of very timid calling station players. There is plenty of action and most of the players in these games in Eagle Pass are very loose and timid. they are not aggressive unless they have a lock hand. Typical raises on 3rd street are; none at all, 1 dollar or 2 dollars. When I catch a quality hand like Aces or Kings... I will usually like to raise the bring in 3 dollars, My strategy is to get lots of callers and build the pot. I use a bet like this as a hook to get them (stuck) in the hand. After this I will look at the board and then decide what to do. If I feel that I am high hand I will bet for value and to eliminate players (but these players will call w/ anything most of the time. it is on 4th street when I will bet 5 or 6. One of the keys and I think this is definately definately the major key in this game is winning big multiway pots, and betting for value. Sometimes you will lose pots (big ones) w/ second best like say a flush (say an Ace High flush) You will lose some big pots but you are only going in w/ premium hands and you are value betting alot on the assumption 1 you have the best hand and 2 players are playing hopeless trash hands. Now let me warn you Eagle Pass (since I last played there over a year ago (its a long story)) Is in fact a poker players heaven. Its filled with (mostly) strictly recreational players and the pots are sometimes HUGE. The 10-20 and above are a lot more wild and aggresive though and very unpredictable. The 4-8 and 5-10 is an easyer game to beat and is less competitve than the 10-20 / 15-30. But these higher limits are still beatable but you need a comfortable bankroll to play. For me a comfortable(ideal) bankroll in the 10-20 would be $5000. And it would be wise for me not to play the 15-30 unless I had a very large bankroll say at least 9 or 10 grand. Now with the texture of these games "In Eagle Pass (Kickapoo Lucky Eagle)" you need to understand how to beat these games. You beat these games by playing a solid good poker of course. You have to have many considerations, pot odds, chances of you winning if you hit, but the size of the pot is very important, and there will come a time when you know that you are beat but the pot is so big you must call . Here is an example I have AJ I'm on button I raise preflop (preflop gets capped somehow). Flop comes. AK10 pot is Huge for some reason (5-10) AK106 its checked to me I bet get a couple callers... river... AK106J its checked to you/ you consider for a while and you decide to value bet thinking a Q would have bet. CHECK RAISE from a Hispanic male newbie... You think and think and think and you are 100% sure he has a Q. The pot is HUGE but you know your dead. If you fold you just cost yourself about $300. I finnally call and Meximan turns over KJ for 2 pair.... You make the call of a lifetime and you take down the pot. The point is this. The key to winning in eagle pass is winning big pots. You wait and wait and lose and wait. then winfall hits eventually. And if string a few or more of these together you will win and you will win big. There are family pots here. And if you understand why these kinds of games are profitable and your a great player, you can cash in. But you need paitience. I want you to understand this. Poker is about ((time)) not money. the sooner you understand this the better off you'll be or something. You I'm out peace. By the way the rake in stud is $4 holdem $3 Out. jeerrome

| Great post. Thanks for the information. Now, for the meat of the matter. I couldn't tell from your post if the only Stud is $1-6 and the rest of the games are HE. Please fill me in. Also, how the Hell would I get there? What's the nearest large airport? Thanks. Ashley Adams on 5. Jan 2003 23:25 jEROME95 wrote: > on 18.
