The book is MUCH better. Mandy Potemkin is a horrible actor

I didn't know there was a book, thanks. You're right, he is a bad actor, but I thought the movie was good anyway.

Maverick is a good film, some good 5-card draw and in my opinion funny.

You might want to check Badger's website {www.playwinnngpoker.com)
AMC did a poker movies nite a while back and had
The Cincinatti Kid, which is a classic movie with the classic line "I made the wrong move at the right time" to justify a horendous suckout, great cast with Steve McQueen, Edward G. Robinson, Tuesday Weld and a very sexy AnnMargaret;
Cool Hand Luke Great Movie with poker giving rise to the Title "Sometimes nothing is a real cool hand."
AMC also had a much older movie with a young Edward G. Robinson, which I found to be pretty forgetable.
Another good movie with poker involved is House of Games, written by David Mamet, who supposedly played poker fairly seriously at one time, and uses lots of poker jargon in his movies. Mamet also has a poker game in American Buffalo, but I personally think House of Games is better. Mamet frequently casts Ricky Jay in his movies, and if you ever get a chance to see his demonstration of card tricks and throwing, you should do do, if for no ther reason to know not to play in a pass the deal game with him :)
