ONE bankroll MANY poker sites, LuckyOne, 28. Nov 2002 15:44

Online poker has suffered from making players keep money on EVERY site they play. Have any of you lost money at any of the sites that have gone out of business? I know I have lost almost $3,000. Plus, I play at about five sites, and need to keep almost $5,000 to keep adequate balances at each site. Depositing and cashing out is WAY too slow. Even when Pay Pal and credit cards were allowed for online gaming, the costs may have been hidden, but they were huge, and delays were terribly long!

How many sites do you play online? Would you like to be able to take advantage of promotions at a site, but were concerned about the safety of your money, or the NUISANCE of having to start a new account and leave money there for thirty days or more?

Www.PokerScene.com was delighted to find that Mike Caro has had many similar thoughts. His initial response to our ides are in another thread at UPF, (ADVICE, last item)and is very well stated with several new ideas to consider!

However, unless the players and the sites cooperate, there will not be a solution.

We are not alone in trying to start a PokerVault, where players could keep one bankroll, and shift it from site to site INSTANTANEOUSLY! When a poker session is over, the money goes back to the PLAYER's account, not one controlled by ANY site. The technology is here, we just need to get it started!

Several sites have expressed great interest in the concept. A central clearinghouse where transfers were just a matter of pushing a button, should not cost ten dollars or more!

I transferred money to my son's neteller account, and it cost TEN dollars, but the promotion would have been over by the time money reached his account from the bank!

What do you think? Would you support a players' bank? Do you have any areas of expertise in banking that could be useful? We need your help! www.PokerScene.com has sent out requests from about twenty sites at least to get them to promise that player money is secure!

But that is just the beginning. What comes next? There will be an online internet interview on the "Voice of Poker" December ninth.

Hi LuckyOne,

You and Mike have a great idea here and I do know if there is interest and a big push it's very much possible.

PokerPot.com is launching in the near future with maximum rake of $2. and we know how important a bankroll is to a player so we decided in our plans to keep the funds separate from company and place it in "ESCROW ACCOUNT" which would be verifiable directly by the bank involved to keep everyone honest but if we have a ONE bankroll, it will be much better and easier for players to play at multiple sites without depositing at each one of them.

Please have this reply serve as our intention to join this program if it goes live and send us any information and updates to pokerpot@pokerpot.com.

PS. We are also able to help creating such an application for the responsible party to manage these funds for players as our highly skilled programmers has knowledge of coding applications like Paypal and Neteller. If you are interested in developing a client and back-end bank for this ONE bankroll, please email me and I would be more than happy to send you a detailed quote on this application.

This project is far more than all sites agreeing to it but all sites will need to re-code their payment systems with the new BANK so the players can play easily without any problems.

Here's what I propose and I think is needed to accomplish this:

Create a new BANK application where all players would signup using their usernames and passwords for each poker site that they play at providing all those sites are linked to this bank directly.

A player then can go to individual site and use ONE BANKROLL option through the site's payment window and add funds to play. That site will send a instant notification to verify funds in players account at ONE BANKROLL and upon verification, they will add funds automatically. The funds at ONE BANKROLL will decrease by the amount the player has withdrawn until the player is logged out from that site. Upon logging out that site's payment system will automatically send the remaining funds back to ONE BANKROLL.

Now obviously there are costs associated to develop and maintain this BANK and to cover those costs, you can do 2 things that come to my mind:

1- Charge a monthly fee to the partner site based on number of players going to that site and using the ONE BANKROLL service

or

2- Just like paypal, neteller, visa, mastercard charge a fee based on the amount the player places in the account. Since the balance will be going back to ONE BANKROLL after the player finish the day, they fee needs to be very minimum and attractive to get most sites to sign up.

Comparing to 2%-5% of what other payment systems charges to these sites, if you charge only 1/2% (.50%). Here's my calculations based on you have atleast 100 ACTIVE players with atleast $500 in BANKROLL.

total funds on deposit: $ $50,000

ACTIVE BANKROLL: $25,000 (players playing average day)

based on .50% your daily commission is about $1250 x 30 = $37,500

I know this post is a bit large and had no right to go into detials but here it goes anyway....... :)

GL and hope to hear back some positive replies!

Thanks, those are some great ideas.

Glad you and PokerPot are ready to join. We have been talking with some other sites and finding interest is there, but questions mainly about security and where to have a bank.

ANY BANKERS OUT THERE??

The idea of an ATM card seems to be popular for withdrawals too.
