| Hi I'm new to this forum and was wondering if you could give me any advice on the legitimacy of online poker. Seems like a great idea but is it to be trusted. have so far played in Paradise Poker and www.uk-poker.co.uk - Both seem pretty good but have noticed that many of the players seem to be there all the time which either means it's very good or there are prop players. Thought the uk poker site was worth trusting as it is powered by Victor Chandler who is a pretty big name in the UK. Would be keen to know your views on this poker room and others. Cheers Craig | ||

| I have played at a dozen or more sites, more than half a million hands online, and feel that while the beats seem more severe than in a B&M( brick and mortar) casino, it is important to realize how many more hands are played! I regularly play two or three tables at a time, so it is even more bizarre! However, I have had some of my worst beats at the B&M's. While I really don't think any of the sites CHEAT with the bad beats, I have had VERY personal experience with two sites that went out of business and KEPT the player money. If that is a concern to you, check out our website at www.pokerscene.com in a few days and see which of the sites guarantee that they keep the players' bankroll separate from their rake money and have responded to our request for a written GUARANTEE, which will be followed by a request for PROOF! TRequest just went out, and the only response so far has been TRUE POKER, but I am quite confident of Party, PokerStars, Planet, and Ultimate Bet as secure sites. | ||

| thanks for the advice will try all of them and make a judgement i reckon. have money in www.uk-poker.co.uk after winning about $200 so will likely play that before moving. Think that site is new but probably ok as Victor Chandler would not lend it's name otherwise would it? no US players in there tho so tables pretty sparse a lot of the time. cheers for you help anyway craig | ||

| sorry for so many posts, but I am playing at a couple sites, and chekcing up on the UPF in between hands, so I add things as I think of them. However, if you are thinking of trying several poker sites, you might be interested in the December ninth VOICE of POKER interview(www.voiceofpoker.com, I believe in the talk show section)I will be doing about the possibility of having ONE bankroll play at Many different sites....without having to leave any money at all to get taken if a site goes out of business. I have lost almost three thousand dollars persoanlly when Dragon Poker Inn and Poker Cosmo went out of business...It is NOT fun! | ||

Doing that is definitely OK, as long as the intent is helpful and informational and not overtly commercial or annoyingly spam. It's a fine distinction, but it's usually easy to decide. I've only edited one message on this forum in the three months we've been around (last night). Also, to clarify, you're right in assuming that this site was established with the help of Planet Poker, and they remain as a sponsor. But UPF is independent of Planet Poker, just as MCU (Mike Cario University of Poker, Gaming, and Life Strategy) is -- although it's online "campus" is currently hosted at planetpoker.com. Hope this helps. Thanks for posting. Straight Flushes, Mike Caro

| OK, thank you...I guess it is ok to mention my PLAYER FOCUSED 'website then, lol, but this is NOT Craig, but Mary, or LuckyGAL. I was thinking our site would have a discussion forum, because I hadn't found one I liked! but after checking this out, I have changed my mind. We will be making our link from PokerScene.com bigger to UPF! Smile and say Hi at the tables to LuckyOne, LuckyWon, LuckyToo, ScoopHL or LuckyGal | ||

| Actually , after I thought about it, there was a link exchange from UPF to www.pokerscene.com, but I haven't found our link yet. I haven't explored everything though. I will wait until we put up a larger banner to worry too much! You have a nice forum here. I am enjoying it and I am sure our visitors will too. Could you start a thread, or do I start a thread to discuss my favorite topic the UNIFIED bankroll for all pokersites? I will be on www.voiceofpoker.com the ninth of december talking more about it. But it is an idea whose time has come we hope! Player support will be crucial! We have some ideas, in fact if you talk to the other principles at planet, I would appreciate a mention. I have been talking with people at Party, UB, True, and a couple other sites I frequent. I must admit, I haven't played much at Planet since the really good 8/16 hilo stud game disappeared. I used to get frustrated at the wait lists that made you sit at a table to start a game, and you couldn't go to another table and play, or they would boot your name off the lists in four minutes. I know they have fixed that, but habits get set. I will be back though! Smile and say Hi at the tables to LuckyOne, LuckyWon, LuckyToo, ScoopHL or LuckyGal | ||

If what you mean by a united poker bankroll is one that is held as available by a third party or a cooperative of participating online clubs and that you can freely move from casino to casino using it, then you should mention that I have already advocated that myself. I completely agree. There have been some preliminary discussions, but -- you're right -- the time has come. The objections on the basis of promoting customer loyalty and encouraging players to stay in one place are overwhelmed by compelling arguments to be able to "put winnings in your pocket" right now and use them anywhere that's affiliated. That builds a bigger base of potential customers. Loyalty programs still can be devised by individual casinos to try to keep customers there more often. This concept should ideally extend beyond just gambling online, though. It should include educational gambing material purchases, online seminar entry, other products, and more. It would be to poker players and gamblers what PayPal is to everyone else, but in a more efficient, easier-to-understand package -- a portable backroll. I stand ready to do my part to moderate the process whenever the diverse entities are ready to take the next step. I'd be eager to hear your ideas on this. To get this conversation started, perhaps you can quote this endorsement of the concept as well as your own thoughts in the new thread. Straight Flushes, Mike Caro
