This may sound like a little bit of bragging, because it is, but I want to give some advice to all the new players.

My girlfriend decided that she wanted to come and play poker with me. So I made her read Lee Jones Low Limit poker book, watch Mike Caro's tapes, and play a little on-line. She watched the videos and read up to "The Turn" in Jones book. We also played some heads up hold'em against each other to get her used to the game.

So after a week of preparation, i gave here $110 and sent her loose on a $5-10 game. For the 1st and 2nd hour she played, she only played one hand and was down to about $40. But she was disiplined enough to wait for cards. When she finally did get hands everyone at the table still called her down, knowing she would only bet strong hands or the nuts. After 4 hours she left with a profit of 1.7 BB an hour.

I watched her play and she did not get lucky. She only played premium hands and when they held up she won good sized pots. She did not throw money away by calling to much. She folded most often (about 80-90%) , and raised more than called.

The purpose of this is to show that TIGHT aggressive play is a good stradegy at the low limits and you don't need alot of experience to win IF you can be very disciplined.

So, to all you new players, play tight, understand pots odds and only call when the pot odds warrant it. Raise your premium hands and be VERY selective and aggressive. Maybe 15% of the players I see at the low limits do this.

To her credit, she has a photographic memory so she remembered every situation described and stradegy explained in the book. She also was reading tells from others at the table!

being only a 4 hour sample, that's not the best statistical analysis I've seen....

but seeing as how I lost every time I went and played poker the first 10 times, I say hurrah...LOL - hope that continues...it won't be the pots you win, it'll be the bets you don't lose....sounds like she's picked that up fast.
