Tourney questions..., Lee Vaughn, 10. Nov 2002 13:21 | ||

| Just curious what everyone does when they have a big stack to their immediate left in a tourney. I was playing in a single table NLHE tourney when we got down to five players. Top three got paid. Chip leader had a little over 5k and everyone one else was about even with about $1200. Blinds at this point were only at 20-40 so we weren't in immediate danger of getting blinded out. Chip leader was doing a lot of calling, but not much raising unless he was first in. Normally I would make some moves on the smaller stacks, try to build up some chips and avoid the big guy. With such a big stack on my left calling everything I felt crippled and to make things tougher I wasn't getting any cards to work with. What would everyone do in this situation? I played pretty tight for a bit, raised a couple of times/limped a few times but never hit anything. My thought is that I should have waited for some cards since the blinds were still so low, but I ended up going all in on the flop vs another small stack when the blinds were still only 30-60. Both of us ended up having mediocre hands and mine lost. Lee | ||

| Just play the cards given to you - don't give much concern about the bigger stacks to your left. When you have an all-in hand, you go all-in ;) Tony on 10.
