| We all know that stealing the blinds is a big part of Holdem Tournaments. In many limit holdem tournaments I have had my blinds attacked by someone who I know has a mediocre hand. Two questions: 1. Is it commom practice by good tournament players to take it to three bets if they read weakness from the raiser? 2. Does it matter what you hold in the blinds to take it to three bets? (Personally I would rather 3 bet it with 7 2 then with KQ because then I won't get trapped if we both see the flop.) | ||

| If you're very short-stacked, a better move is to just call, then bet NO MATTER WHAT unless the flop fits your hand well. Then just check, hoping your opponent will bluff. You're getting 3.5:1 to call here, so you don't need much, and remember that if you lead on the flop, your opponent might fold if you have the ability to do them damage with the rest of your chips. Another way to put it--you're removing all decisions from you, but you're putting your opponent to a decision in most cases. Because of the way game theory works, in many situations you will come out ahead no matter what your opponent does. But even if your opponent has a chance to gain EV, they must now make a decision--one they have a chance to get wrong. | ||

| question #1-it probably is, but most of the time I play pot limit or no limit, so I could be wrong about this in a limit game question#2-on this one if feel pretty sure, whenever I bluff I like to have cards which may make a hand better than the 7,2. try bigger cards, or suited, or connected cards that can make a good hand | ||

| Another way to look is the steal back at him. Call the raise with any middle decent hands. And if the flop comes with no big scare cards(A's+K's) bet no matter what you have. The other guy can be raising to steal with Ax, or Kx. Those are my steal hands. Adam W. | ||

| Another way to look at it. If you end up being heads up for the flop and you think the other player was on a steal. Call the pre-flop bet and check raise the flop. They will almost always bet the flop. If you check-raise and they have nothing then you will win. If they rereaise, you can fold unless you have a draw. I will do this with solid hands or good draws. If I do think they are on a steal, and I have Kx or Ax or a small pair, I will reraise and bet the flop. It is easier to do in live games and you can pick up tells. Also, I will only do this in heads up situations as I don't want any other action. | ||
