Me vs a good player, 3Kings, 8. Nov 2002 14:35

| I'm playing 5-10 hold'em with a bunch of regulars. By regulars, I mean players who play a coupld of times a week, not necesarily good players. It is folded to a middle position player who limps in/ I raise and everyone else folds, player calls. The flop comes Ah 9c 6d He checks, I bet, he raises. Let me tell you about this player. He is the best player at the table and I have never seen end a session as a loser. He could easily beat the 10-20 game but knows he will be the best player at 5-10 so that is the game he chooses. He knows I will throw away second pair, if I get a lot of action. Here are my options: 1) call and risk being bet into on the turn and river with second pair 2) Fold and risk throwing away the best hand 3) Reraise and risk getting 4-bet. If he just calls, I can check the turn and call the river saving one small bet if he does have an A, If he reraises, I will call the bet and fold the turn if he bets. Obviously, if a king comes on the turn, I will bet/raise. I decide to reraise as I think he is making a move on me. I have seen him throw away A-Q after one raise before in a three-way pot; but, I am not sure what his action will be heads up. He thinks about it for a second and folds. Not being anywhere near a good player. I have about .1 BB expectation per hour ($1), I think I made a good read and play and that confidence helped me make a killing the rest of the day. Any comments on my reraise? | ||

| You didn't mention what your hand was. Did you really have second pair or was that just an example. Sounds like he was making a move based on a good read of your play but your read on him was better. Lee | ||

Where the HELL do I find a game where throwing AQ away after getting action on a flop of A9x is EVER correct? Even passive 3-6 games here are usually not that passive. They just do not exist in my area. If they did I would never have to get a real job again. Maybe I need to move. :)
