Tournament Question For Tourney Beginner, bruh, 6. Nov 2002 23:38

I'd like to start playing in some "bigger" poker tournaments (not the weekly 7pm local tourneys) and would like any recommendations about any of the "bigger" tournaments any of you would recommend for a tournament beginner. I live in NC, so I'd prefer something on the east coast (AC or Foxwoods) if possible. I'd be looking for hold 'em....not sure limit or NL....with a reasonable buy-in ($200-range). I appreciate any advice/info anyone would be willing to provide.

The Taj has satelites going on as we speak for their annual tournament. I think the $300 buy in No Limit hold em in on Dec 3rd or 4th. Something like that. Go to their wesite and check it out

The Foxwoods tournament is an EXCELLENT place for you to get your feet wet in the bigger tournaments. They have a tournament in Novemember, and another in early April (I think). They offer a wide variety of buyin's from $100 to $10,000.
If you are looking to get into action soon, AC's buyins are likely in your price range. The Bellagio is also running a tournament at the same time, but the buyins for that one are at least $1000 per tournament.

Bruh, don't know where in NC you are, but there are sometimes tourneys in Chapel Hill and Greensboro. I have not played in them, but know players who take regular trips to Miss and AC who have, and they describe the NC tourneys as pretty solid. You can search on rgp or the pokerpages site, under home games for some past ones.
If you do play, please let me know your thoughts so I can decide whether to travel up from the beach.
