Mike,
where would the money that you won from the bots come from- the poker site?

Hi, Easy E --

I'm a little confused by what you mean, but let me take a stab. The money won by the bots would come from the other players/customers. I (or someone) would program the bots to have about a break-even expectation. If they cumulatively won money for the month, then that would mean the casino was ahead that much money, since they sponsored and controlled the bots. The information about wins or losses would be available and updated daily. If at the end of the month, the bots were ahead, that money would be returned to the players from the casino through a promotions, such as a tournament.

Jack Fox e-mailed me today and suggested that it might be a good idea to reward players who were willing to start games against these bots (which I'd call "friendly automated poker pals," BTW). I think that's a good idea, as is rewarding players in general who start and stick with short-handed games until they fill.

The way I envision this, anyone who starts a game could select whether he or she wanted to play against bots or not in the early stages (they leave as the game fills). If you sat down to a new table and checked that you didn't want bots, then that game would remain bot free as long as you stayed there and thereafter as long as the majority didn't want them.

I'm sorry, I thought it was clear.

If i would BEAT a bot in a game (or it's one of many players in a pot), is the bot's money real?

If it is, who is supplying the bot with money to lose to me- the online card room?

Hi, Easy E --

OK, I understand your question more clearly now. Sorry for the slightly off-topic nature of my previous reply.

If you beat a bot, yes, the money would be real. You could spend it.

The casino would pay the money to cover losses for any bots they make available. The online cardroom would be supplying the money for its bots to lose.
