Flop trips & check call all the way!, Dan Chio, 30. Oct 2002 17:12 | ||

| I found this to be an amusing hand. I am sitting one off the cutoff in a $9/$18 game. The BB is unimaginative and tight. The button just got in the game one cycle ago, but seems pretty ABC as well. The SB is wild and loose. I pick up Q4spades and decide to open-raise it. C.O. folds, but then the button 3 bets it...Oops! SB cold calls and the BB mucks. I call and we take the flop 3 handed. Flop comes 9 4 4 Nice...I am planning on check-raising on the turn. Button bets and we both call. Turn is A Argh...Not exactly the card I was looking for. Button bets and we both call again. River is K Even worse...At this point I am hoping the button taps the felt and says Qs or Js. Nope, he bets out again...Okay, let's hope he says As and Ks. SB calls (which doesn't mean much). I decide just to call and see what he's got. Button flips over 99 for flopped full house. I guess having the Ace and King fall runner runner was a good thing after all, otherwise I would've lost a lot more chips than I did. | ||

| After the small blind cold called I would have made like I had a tough decision to make and then mucked my Q 4. | ||

| I would have played the hand faster on the flop. Yes, in the situation that was current I would have lost more money, but I think it would be a better overall play! Roy Cooke on 30.
