| Last Friday night we held our inaugural home poker tourney (16 players) and it was a great success! We started at 8 pm and it went till 4 in the morning! Too long. We had 30 minute levels starting at 5-10 with $1000 in chips and one optional rebuy if you had $1000 or less in the first 2 hours. The rebuy got you $500. We raised the levels to 40 min for 3 levels which we won't do next time to save 30 minutes. Here were the levels: 5-10 10-20 15-30 5 ante 25-50 5 ante 50-100 10 ante 75-150 15 ante 100-200 25 ante 150-300 25 ante 200-400 50 ante 300-600 50 ante 500-1000 100 ante 1000-2000 200 ante 2000-4000 500 ante bring-ins (we played 7-stud) were twice the ante I suggest eliminating one level and more importantly, supply a dealer for the final table and pay him a stipend for his labors out of the prize pool. This will bring the playing time to about 6 hours. Also start on time and don't start at an hour that will end the tourney later than midnight. An afternoon start is what we'll be doing next time. Good luck and have fun. | ||
