| I have read Sklansky's books on HE , but find they deal mainly with Limit HE and this is causing me a few problems in NL games. I struggle with: * How to slow play a hand , yet still maximise the pot.. * How to play Big pairs pre flop. * Starting hands value ( I tend to stay in with any connected pair suited or even distant connected pairs (eg. 79hearts)if I can do it cheaply) ~ also should I be raising pre-flop to scare out these draw hands when holding AQo or similar. Any ideas on the above or a good specific NO Limit book would be appreciated. | ||

| The best book as far as No-Limit hold'em is Super System by Doyle Brunson. It is available through www.conjelco.com Roy Cooke on 20. | "Poker is a game of people" It sort of goes on from there. Many of the sections of the book are out of date, but the NLHE section remains filled with good stuff. Ignore the obvious goofy stuff (always play the next hand after you win a hand) and the basics of how to play NLHE are very sound. Dave Scharf | ||

| No-limit poker is definitely a people game, not a card game, as Doyle B so succinctly stated . To test this proposition, and if you have the nerve, try playing a whole session without looking at your hole cards. This will give you a real sense of what Doyle B. is saying... You'll also notice it is a lot easier said than done. Lastly, looking forward, what do we do at the table when nobody looks at their hole cards? jeh | ||
