| Last night a middle position loose player in the 15-30 limped. Looking at my hole cards out pops 88. The flop comes down T 3 2 all different suits. Watching my opponent I spot a tell. Horror above horrors. I know he has me beat. No bet has been made he checks to me. How would you play the hand. This player is not sophisticated player and had let other players bet his hands for him. | ||

I assume you and the middle postion are the only players left in this hand: If you know he has you beat what can you but check and hope to improve to a set? If you bet, he'll surely call you if he has a pair of 10's or better. What hand did you put him on? I assume he would have raised pre-flop with a pocket pair (depending on what you mean by "loose") so is it likely he has made a set - and worst case: a set of 10's? Since raising is out of the question - from your information - I would check and see how the hand develops. | ||

| What I did in this case was to bet the flop. He called. I checked the turn when another flush card hit and he checked his AT again when another flush card hit on the river. I bet the flop on an odd chance I could be wrong with the read. But I knew it was probably a mistake betting the flop luckily he went for the check raise on the turn and got scared by the board on the river. The read saved me a minumum of 30 on the turn. | ||

| Hi Hosh Well...if you are sure he has you beat you should check and get a free card! If you bet you are just setting yourself up for a checkraise. Roy Cooke on 12.
