I've been thinking about joining the online poker school.
i was wondering if it was worth it. i know it is only 14 bucks a month
but what does it all have to offer.

Any input about the poker school would be great

thanks,

I think it is worth it...I have been a member since day one and my tourney results as well as my hourly win rate have shot up this past year.

I was very tired when I posted last night and realize today I really did not answer your question, so here is my best shot.

PSO offers multi-table tournaments and single table satellites that include:

No Limit, Limit and Pot Limit Hold'em

Limit and Pot Limit Omaha and Omaha hilo

Limit and Pot Limit Seven card stud and Seven card stud hilo

They are working on ring games and should have them soon, right now they are beta testing a pot limit hold'em game that runs 24/7.

PSO ranks it's members based on the number of games a member has played in. There is an overall ranking that ranks all of the members of the school together and then there are league rankings.

$2,000 in Sponsorship Awards are available monthly to the top 3 finishers, (and in one case top 5 finishers) in each of the 8 Monthly Sponsorship Leagues. The competition is stiff as members are allowed to play in only a set number of games to stay in their league.
At the end of the month, the highest ranked members in a particular league will come away with sponsorship points to be put toward a real sponsored seat in any tournament of their choice with a buy-in of $500 or more.

Play money bankrolls are a reality in PokerSchool. In order to play in a tournament you must pay the buy-in with play money you've earned in low buy-in/freeroll tournaments and satellites. Players don't like to lose their bankroll and will play the best game they can to keep it.

PokerSchool Online allows you to expand your game against real people who are making a real effort to win. Normally, for this kind of practice you would have to go to a live casino and play with real money. An expensive way to learn some tough lessons.

Also the lessons by such teachers as Mike Caro and Lou Krieger just to name two are VERY helpfull.

But IMO the greatest thing about PSO is the Community...even thought everyone plays to win, players are often helping out their fellow classmates and events like the team tournament that we just finshed up is a great way to pick the brains of other really good players.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tyler,

After reading Ode's reply, I took the plunge and shelled out the monthly Joining fee. Although i've only been looking around the site for a day, I think the information available is well worth the outlay. Also the tests are great for cementing your knowledge of the game, and the with contributers such as Mike and Lou krieger I think the fee is a bargain.
The tournement setup is great with serious tourney's running all day. I managed to finish second in my first school tourney last night (and it was tough competition at the final table) and although it's only virtual money, my competive instinct and the fact that there are alot of league table and rankings makes me think it's worth the effort.
I think if you've got some time on your hands and you are able to play seriously without the "Monetary" rewards then the site is a must.

Got to get back to my lessons now -)

Best regards
Harry

Hi, Tyler --

I highly recommend PSO. It is the brainchild of Mark and Tina Napolitano (founders of Poker Pages -- www.pokerpages.com). I served as its first dean, a title I may or may not still hold, because during my transition to the Ozarks, I haven't been able to contribute anything new.

Straight Flushes,
Mike Caro
