Hi, Bruh --

I'll assume you're talking about hold 'em. That's a hard question to answer accurately, because many factors could change the odds: the number of opponents, the nature of your opponents, the sequence of betting, even the size of your three-of-a-kind, and more.

However, if you're against just one opponent who holds Ah Ks and you hold 9c 9d with a board of 4h 9h 8h, your tips will stand up (with or without help required) about 73 percent of the time. (And of the times your opponent makes the ace-high flush, he will lose to you about a quarter of the time.)

Although the fact that your opponents are likely to play reasonable hands will change the following somewhat, here's a pretty-reasonable estimate based on the same three nines and same board against four opponents who hold random cards when three of the same suit flop... Your three-of-a-kind wins about 59 percent of the time.

Straight Flushes,
Mike Caro
