Hi, Allyn --

I read your excellent analysis earlier today. My reaction is more along the lines of "How dare they!" At what point in the evolution of seemingly sane, free societies did the majority of people begin to accept that it was normal for government to oppress its people in this way?

My greaat fear is that most American's simply don't understand how great a threat to their freedom this could become. This isn't just a poker issue. This is THE motherlode of all Internet issues -- the one that can be used to tame and tarnish the great "Wild West" Internet dream -- an undisciplined worldwide exchange of ideas and activities in an imaginery new land without boundaries or goverment intrusion.

If Americans can be starved out of poker -- while they watch freer people around the world feast on it -- what's next? And who gets to say what's next? And why do they get to say it, when nobody asked them to butt in? And... well, how dare they?

Straight Flushes,
Mike Caro

Didn't you know? The rake from these online joints is going straight into the coffers of Al Qaeda. If you play poker online, then the terrorists have already won. So buck up, Citizen! We all have to make our sacrifices in the Never-Ending War against Eurasia.

Feh.

I am sure someone has already thought of this, so this is really a request for information -- what about a petition from the online poker playing community against this bill?
If anyone knows of such a petition, I would be happy to add my name. Please email me at tonytysome@yahoo.com

Hi Tony,

Just as a FYI, a petition would do absolutely nothing to prevent this or any other governmental act. Petitions are ignored outright by most governmental agencies and, for that matter, most businesses.

If you really want to send a message that you care and want to make your opinions known, write and physically mail a letter to your member of Congress and/or Senate.

Cheers,
Boyd Barker

Subject: I VOTE AND I AM OPPOSED TO H.R. 556, THE INTERNET GAMBLING FUNDING PROHIBITION ACT.

Protect your ability and right to gamble online. This week the US house of Representatives is voting on a bill, H.R. 556, the Internet
Gambling Funding Prohibition Act, that is the first step in taking away those rights. Please help block this effort, there are enough of us to make a difference. Please call and/or write your representative in the House of ,Representatives. Tell them you vote and you are opposed to H.R. 556. If possible, please have several of your friends do the same. It's best to call and write To call your representative, dial (202) 224-3121 and give them your zip code. When you reach your representative's office, tell them the substance of the message below

To write to your representative, simply go to this address:
<http://www.house.gov/writerep/>;;
Put in your zip code and follow the links. It is important to
include your name and address. You can then cut and paste the following message into the provided area.

I VOTE AND I AM OPPOSED TO H.R. 556, THE INTERNET GAMBLING FUNDING PROHIBITION ACT.
I don't think the government should stick its nose into what forms
of legitimate entertainment adults enjoy in the privacy of their own
home. It is a waste of taxpayer money and limited government resources with absolutely no benefit to the citizens of the United States. This is not how I want my government spending my hard earned tax dollars. Every dollar that would need to be spent enforcing this proposed law could be better spent elsewhere.
It is hypocritical of the federal government to try and prohibit
selected forms of gambling while almost every state in the country condones and encourages its citizens to play other forms of gambling when the state gets a piece of the action. I am offended that the sponsors of this bill have attempted to mix this activity in with terrorism and money laundering in order to help muster support through demagoguery.

Thank you for listening.

PLEASE VOTE NO ON H.R. 556 on Tuesday.

Hi atty...nice to see you here,

I have responded to the legalpoker.org website, and found that some heavy hitters in the card playing world were paying big bucks to support the site! My website can't afford the money to advertise there, but I certainly like the idea that poker as a GAME OF SKILL, shouldn't be lumped with games of chance under any circumstances.

I could never understand the appeal of games of chance, but to each his or her own!

Smile and say Hi at the tables to LuckyOne, LuckyWon, LuckyToo, ScoopHL or LuckyGal
