| A big part of the profit in the pokergames comes from people that are on tilt or are upset for any reason. Thats way alot of people talks trash at the tables. We want or opponent to be abit upset and play in a more uncontrolled way. My question is simple. Where goes the line for the trashtalk. Racism? Sexual Harrasment? Obscene comments? or is all verbal comment allowed? | ||

If you are lucky the fish will complain about your behaviour and have you tossed out on your big fat butt and that is all that will happen. Besides these reasons You incite controlled players to play tougher against you and thats not what you want. You will probably even drive off people there to have a good time, play and blow off a few c notes. And what good is there in that? No more loose money just tough players who are inspired to play their best against you and they are not intimidated by your mouth they just want to punch you in it figurativly or otherwise. not a profitable proposition by any means. It is better to be a pleasent opponent. that way those you play against can lose money to you and still enjoy the game. bottom line is dont be a Asshole it will cost you in the end.

Hi, Poker Veteran -- No, see, there's a creative way to get around the United Poker Forum's ban on insults. You just make a humorous point. Way to go. (Of course, your risking that some people might not get it.) Straight Flushes, Mike Caro

You can make opponents mad and uncomfortable so that they'll make bad decisions in the short term, but usually this has an opposite long-term effect. Most opponents will play better hands against you, because they want revenge and will remember that it was uncomfortable playing poorly. And the table as a whole likely will change in tone from a lot of laughing "buddies" having fun surrendering their money to a group that is solemn and serious about winning. | Well, I think I come off abit wrong. Ididnt mean to encurage cursing. I just was curious what the rules regarding the comments were. The times I use trash talk is when someone is loosing and I know that a harsh comment such as "how can you play that hand" after he complains of bad luck will set him on tilt. I never use that sexual harrashment or rasic comments as I said in the first message the question was what pokerroom except.

| At least be very creative with your comments. Something like "Wow, you had TWO straight draws on the flop" when a nitwit takes a J4 offsuit to the river after an A Q 5 rainbow flop to crush your only big set of the night. That lets you insult without hurting, instead of "How did you get lucky enough to be born without a brain?" | ||

Hi, Gunar -- Although I agree with you that you can sometimes goad an opponent into playing poorly at the moment, the long-term result is still apt to be that the opponent is more cautious in the future, so as not to endure more ridicule. I try to encouraage poor play by showing that I, too, am willing to gamble frivolously (though much less than it appears), and by being genuinely friendly when opponents play badly and win hands. I want to reward their bad decisions so that they will be repeated more often. Straight Flushes, Mike Caro
