| I have two questions regarding your comments in the online newsletter. 1 .Planet Poker and other sites have a $3.00 per hand drop in the 10-20 and the 20-40 5 player max game. That can add up to 3-4hundred dollars an hour Online. Is this beatable? I know you work for Planet Poker but please try to be as honest as possible. 2. Shorthanded play obviously has different odds and strategies than full handed. So how about some lessons and tips. Thanks, Dean S | ||

| Hi Dean The rake does not add up to half of your estimation...many hands are blind robbed and not raked and some are raked smaller amounts. That said, there are many winning players in the short-handed games. I will defer the short-handed strategies to Mike as he is the short-handed guru :-) Roy Cooke on 18. | Thank you for your response Roy but one thing I know for sure is that you and Mike are privy to the exact amount of the drop, and for purposes of this dicussion I think that that information could prove to be quite usefull. So confess. Thanks, Dean | ||

| Dont just beat around the bush, whats the exact number? Because I see it average about $5.00 per minute. After all, Mike is out there promoting the 5 player max games and I think the drop has to be a major factor in deciding weather or not to play in these games on line, and very worthy of discussion. As you know I am someone who likes to play in these games but I feel the drop is way to high. I have said this before but lowering the drop would help a site like planet poker in the long run. More players would last longer attracting new costumers and more games. The site would probably do better. Mike said it himself in the online newsletter he said, "Hey, guess what? That isn’t the way it is with online poker! Online poker rooms can create as many imaginary (virtual) tables as they like at almost no cost." plus I should not have to remind you! Part of my argument was that online casinos could actually make MORE money by spreading short-handed games than by spreading regular games. The rake per hour, per player is higher in these short games, but many players prefer them, because they get more hands per hour and the per-hand rake is actually cheaper. I do agree, though, that rakes could decrease even more in short-handed games, particularly heads-up. I feel the same way you do: This would attract more customers, mean more profit for the casinos, and the players would get a better deal. Straight Flushes, Mike Caro | ||
