| Mike, Gary Carson believes that you may have said that Planet Poker may be doing a lot of monitoring for potential cheating. Here is the post from RGP: suckoutartist@yahoo.com (letmewin) wrote in message news:<68880dde.0209080621.66360b6b@posting.google.com>... > We would not play the same table for more than 1 hour. This, I would think, might have a greater chance of being flagged.... or not? Same thing with the disconnecting tricks...? Once ( and we > realy thought security-software would catch us, but it didn't) we both> held 88 in late position with 4 limpers already. Normaly a clear > raise. Not necessarily true... and REALLY not possible to be flagged, unless the sites are monitoring out the wazoo (impossible?) Though I despise the cheating (you obviously didn't return the money), thanks for posting how easy it is to collude online... Easy E | ||

Hi, Easy E -- Currently, I don't do collusion monitoring at Planet Poker on a regular basis. Roy Cooke does this with others assisting him. I have consulted about automated ways to detect collusion, true, but it is not possible to catch all instances online or in real-world casinos. As I have written many times, I believe collusion at poker is not just unsportsmanlike and wrong, it's a very serious crime. When we sit down in a poker game, we pledge to each other that we will play in our own selfish best interests. Obviously, people can beat poker by violating this tacit agreement, but they're low-life scum if they do that. When you mutually pledge your word to others, and they to you, and you alone violate that word, leaving others to suffer because they are doing as they promised, there are few crimes more despicable, in my opinion. I have said that poker cheats should be drawn and quartered, and I really mean it. Fortunately, it's easier to catch colluders online than in real-world play. That's because we keep a record from the beginning of time of all the cards that are played (and discarded). Real world surveillance can only fantasize about being able to go back in history and look at the cards of potential colluders they're suspicious of, but online surveillance can really do just that. Still, you should always be vigalant and not everything will be caught. Most will eventually, though. Straight Flushes, Mike Caro

| .. the problem being, of course, that in order to USE those volumes of data (what, they have a CRAY down there?) someone has to recognize what's going on... and with several hundreds (?) of tables running, 60 hands per hour.... sounds really tough. This, among other things, is why i haven't jumped into the online game yet. | ||

However, I feel brutally pummeled with automobile jacks and fed peicemeal to coyoties or jackels to be a particularly fitting demise for poker cheats. Of course being striped naked, tied and left with wounded jackrabbits tethered to their genitalia in mountain lion territory may be suitable in some extreme cases. Of course to each his own. -t > > Straight Flushes, > Mike Caro
