i was up front in the beginning stages of a tourney with 980 of the 1000 chips(10-20 blinds). i held AdQd and just called, i figured a call would be right because i wanted some players in the hand to pay me off if i hit a flush. i get 5 callers. the flop is 7dAh4c. the BB player bets 25 and i raise to 75 and the guy behind me raises to 150, the BB folds and i just call. the turn is a 2d. i bet 25 and the guy behind me raises to 75. what should i do?

Hi, Ross --

You should just call in almost all cases. The chemistry between you and your opponents would need to be almost perfect to justify a raise as an alternative. Folding is out of the question, since the size of the pot more than justifies a call, even if you're 100 percent sure you need to hit a nut flush.

Call. Repeat, call. Just call.

Straight Flushes,
Mike Caro
