Getting "lost" in loose games, bruh, 5. Sep 2002 09:34 | ||

| While visiting a friend in California, I've been playing some hold 'em recently at Bay 101. I have read how wildly loose games can be in Cali, but I really had no idea until I saw it firsthand. I like to think I'm a somewhat decent poker player (although maybe sometimes a little predicitable), but I seem to keep getting crushed in these games. I know I'm not the best reader of people (although I want to improve), but I seem to get totally lost in these games at times when trying to put someone on a hand. I normally play in Atlantic City or Las Vegas, where people tend to play what seems to be a lot more traditional-style hold 'em, so it's is a little different for me seeing almost everyone see every flop and/or people cold-calling 2-3 bets with 2-7 offsuit. I find I normally will know where I'm at in a hand when playing in AC or LV, but not so in Cali. I seldom, if ever go on tilt, but it's tough to keep my head in the game when you get what seemed to be the nuts busted by a runner-runner inside straight draw (for example). Raises only seem to make pots bigger and don't seem to knock anyone out......as people seem to play hands they would play for one bet for two or three. I know these type games are supposed to be the best kind to play in, as huge hands should provide huge pots, but that seldomly seems to happen. I have read Roy Cookes latest article about the game/opponents dictating the hands you play.....but I think most of these maniacs are clueless to this type thinking. I hope this post doesn't sound like a huge bad-beat story, I'm just wanting some feedback/advice on how to figure out where I am in a hand when playing with these maniacs. Thanks for any advice. | ||

| From a common sense point of view i`m in with strong drawing hands only ...if theres a draw on board i want the nut str8 and or a nut flush draw.. sets are good if no draws are out there and thats rare. I put my money out there with strong hands and fold if I see theres big trouble.. I dont waste my time putting someone on a hand cause evweryone calls all bets with everything. To best put it I use my omaha thinking in these types of games.. jim on 5. Sep 2002 09:34 bruh wrote: > While visiting a friend in California, I've been playing some hold 'em recently > at Bay 101. | hi all, I play low limits online and get this all the time, sometimes i laugh sometimes i get really angry .But if you keep it up in the long run it will be rewarded. You have to be patient though ..lol...it is the hardest thing to do cause you so wanna get some money of these losers and i always get beaten by group 21 hands against my group 1 or 2 hands. When there is another table go there goes these guys are to lucky for you now. P.s i love to read all this, very educating to learn from all of you experienced players.....keep it up!!!! | ||

| Getting lost in fast action games is common....your opponents are MUCH harder to read and any mistake that you make is MUCH more critical. You have to err on the side of caution in big pot situations. Remember that folding a winner in a large pot is a HUGE mistake. I am not saying tha tyou call everyone down...just that you need to be more careful. That said, other factors become more important. Plays to protect hands gain in value.....Emotional control gains value.....Hand selection changes based on the level of aggression....If it is aggressive you should play very solid....If it is loose apssive you should play a lot of hands which make big hands. If there is a maniac in the game...sit behind him! Roy Cooke on 5. Sep 2002 09:34 bruh wrote: > While visiting a friend in California, I've been playing some hold 'em recently > at Bay 101.
