| Hi Roy, When you experience long losing streaks and you're sure your mechanics are sound do you just wait it out, knowing eventually the cards will turn or are there tricks or techniques you use to attempt to cut the losing streak short and with it a return to a positive outlook at the table | ||

| No not Roy (oh how i wish)..but heres where having an understanding of other games comes into great importance...I have an arsenal of many forms of poker and when i`m runnin bad at one I play another form. Why anyone would limit themselves to one form is beyond reason but many do and when they`re stuck they`re facing a long uphill battle .. Also if you have the discipline and can do this i suggest booking small wins and leaving and or change to another game with that small win..that way you dont go home and the game your stuck in you start to break the cycle... jim on 26. | Hi Jim, I appreciate your help but I'm not sure I understand it.It seems to me when God made the world he also made "the Law of Large Numbers" which admits long losing streaks,I'm not clear how booking small wins changes anything. | ||

| It's supposed to be a psychological technique to help build confidence for the next session. | ||

| Even if you feel this aint your cup of tea ( booking small wins)I still feel strongly that all good players are skillful in other forms to fall back on.. jim on 26. | Hi Bluesman I think that many players extend losing streaks by changing their play.....Often, they are not even aware of the changes. Losing has a way of turning thoughts negative and taking away a players confidence and aggression. That said, I think you need to build on positive thoughts. Create something positive and build on it. Booking a small win in a game you are highly likely to beat can get your thoughts back to positive and put your game back on hte right track. Also, I review my poker literature and study the game. Often I find my game slips over time and an occasional review will put the right ideas in the forefront of my mind. Another thing I will do is change my venue. My game sometimes gets stale playing in the same place all the time. Changing opponets can give you a fresh perspective and if players are keying off play knowledge of your game , fresh oppoents will not posses that knowledge. Stay off tilt!! Persevere...Put forth your best effort...Be tough! Hit the river once in while :-)...You will find it helps enormously :-) Roy Cooke on 26.
