Two pair are dealt to the hole. Since only one pair can be played and since one pair is nine or above but not aces - It seems this hand will probably lose. What do you think?

two pairs are rarely strong in O/8, especially if one pair isn't Aces, and it's probably not a scooping (hi and low) hand

With these hands if you must feel like playing them i suggest in late position and preferably no more then two opponents..
If one or no low cards appear your likely to get the board checked to you..Bet ,do not give a free card
definitely fold if an ace falls and theres a bet by someone solid.

Hi Duke

As a general rule I would not attach much value to a hand like 9-9-3-3 in Hi-Lo Omaha. However a hand like K-K-J-J, I would attach value to. I do NOT in any game create set standards to myself regarding hand selection. My hand selection varies depending on my position and opponents.

The key to playing two pair is that both pair be high. This minimizes the chance of running into set over set (very costly). It also increases the chance of scooping because your set card does not put a low card on board.

My minimum requirement is that the lower pair be Js or better. That means only the following hands:
AAKK, AAQQ, AAJJ, KKQQ, KKJJ, QQJJ
