I play in a home game twice a week. My sessions usually last 5-8 hours. I have noticed an issue that I need some advice on. I always enter the game with a bang. In the first hour, it isn't uncommon for me to be up 10-15 bucks (in nickel/quarter spread, mind you). However, I always seem to start feeling strange in the middle of the poker session. I sometimes feel like I am running a fever, I get uncomfortable in my chair and worst of all I start getting outdrawn like mad. This has happened for about the last 6 or 7 weeks. I start big up front, lose most or all of it back in the middle and then win a substantial amount back in the end.

What is wrong with me? I don't seem to be able to get a handle on this. Is it psychological? Does it happen to anyone else? TIA.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I usually try to get up and walk around for a bit (if I'm in a casino). At a home game you could go grab a smoke, or if you don't smoke just tell everyone you need to get some air and take a few minute break. That usually helps me.

Sounds like an emotional issue to me. Stretching and moving might be a big help. However you need to not get worked up if you start to blow back a win....Keep control of yourself, when you start to feel this way take a break. Give yourself some positive self-talk and don't go back to the table until you feel mentally and emotionally fit to play.

Hmmmm. . . so I must be actually going on tilt. Perhaps you are right, a good stretch might do me some good. I will try it next game (Wed.) and let you guys know if it remedies the problem. Thanks.
